Everton are looking to sign a £17m player, with Tottenham already in touch

Frank Lampard’s Everton are in contention with Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur and Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea for Barcelona striker Memphis Depay, according to reports Sports.
Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have Memphis Depay in their sights
sports reported that Chelsea and Tottenham have already approached the former Manchester United striker.
Depay is not seen as a first-choice option by Chelsea and the player himself has no desire for the Tottenham project, according to the report.
The Spanish publication added that Everton would be happy to bid for Depay but the 28-year-old former Lyon star would want to join a club in the UEFA Champions League if he is set to leave Barcelona this summer.
Sports had previously claimed Depay told his Barcelona teammates in the dressing room that he wanted to stay at the Camp Nou and was ready to fight for his place in Xavi’s starting line-up.
Barcelona reportedly want to sell the Dutchman and are willing to accept transfer fees of 20 million euros (16.88 million pounds).
Unlikely Goodison Park transfer
In our view, Everton are unlikely to be able to sign Depay from FC Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
The Toffees won’t be playing in the UEFA Champions League anytime soon and with Depay now 28 and already playing for a big club in Barcelona, the striker is likely to see a move to Goodison Park as a retirement in his career.
