Benkert’s Preseason Went Viral

Benkert has spent the entire 2021 season training the team to learn from Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love.

He was elevated in Week 14 against the Bears, where he played just two snaps and knocked his knee to end a 45-30 win over Chicago.

But before the 2021 season kicked off, Benkert had an impressive pre-season game against the New York Jets

He made some plays but he really stole the spotlight with an incredible side pass to get Malik Taylor. go viral on Twitter.

He completed the pre-season with 69% of a total of 48 passes in the 300 meters with one touchdown and two interceptions.

Benkert hints at being released by Atlanta

Benkert parted ways with his college career to play for East Carolina and the University of Virginia.

After being ineffective in 2018, he landed on Atlanta Falcons’ roster practice for his five rookies but was soon injured, which landed him in IR. He was back to be competitive in 2020 but COVID-19 canceled the previous tournament of the tournament, so he didn’t get a chance to showcase his talent.

Still, he Actually think he shot to make the team’s final roster after a stellar season at camp and all the hard work he’s put in, but it didn’t end up being like that.

In a pre-season 2021 interview with Go Long’s Tyler DunneBenkert shared about his struggles in the NFL, especially his time under Thomas Dimitroff and Dan Quinn.

“I tried my best. When it comes to it, I work very hard in football and give it all I have and always be prepared. I think last year with Covid really opened my eyes. I had the best camp I could have. I played ball. Make a play. I said, ‘There’s no way they’ll send me off and put me on the training team.’ I said, ‘I can’t be cut. There’s no other way.’ And I went into a meeting with the GM and he said, ‘You did everything we asked you to do. You couldn’t have played better. We’re lucky we don’t have pre-season because we can hide you and get you on the training team. ‘ I was like, ‘S—. YES.’ That is the reality of business. It was a hard pill to swallow but at the same time, it gave me so much freedom and unburdened that I was able to control everything I could and they still couldn’t keep me on the team. That’s just part of being a guy with no brains. Until you put one foot on the field in the game and everyone has to see it, they won’t worry about someone stealing you. “

After Benkert was relieved of duty by the Falcons in February 2021, it didn’t take long for the Packers to pick him up. And it looks like they don’t want anyone to “steal” him if signing him is their first move of the season.
