The New York Jets have certainly added a lot of fun toys to both sides of the ball this season.
Although in the same breath, they also lost some important pieces to other teams during the free agency bidding process. One of those veterans could come back to haunt them in 2022.

Revenge on the mind
Jamison Crowder has lived up to the free agency contract he signed with the Jets in 2019.
In two of his three seasons, he led the team in terms of yards received and proved to be a reliable blanket of protection for anyone playing in midfield:
- 188 receptions
- 1,979 yards received
- 14 hits to the ground
Though when he hit the unlimited free agent, the old Duke product joined the Buffalo Bills this season. It’s a one-year deal for $2 million and gives him the chance to face his former team twice in the upcoming 2022 campaign.
On Monday, June 27, Bills reporter Alaina Getzenberg listed Crowder as an “unexpected highlight of the season” for ESPN:
“Crowder looked solid during his first-season stint with the Bills and may have found a good fit with Buffalo.”
The 29-year-old midfielder still has a lot of energy in the pool and is one of the favorites to replace Cole Beasley’s product in the position.
An active veteran who has been unexpectedly charged with one of the hottest crimes in football led by Josh Allen could prove to be a dangerous combination next season.
Who is playing in the Slot?
With Crowder’s departure, who will start in position for the Jet?
When head coach Robert Saleh was asked about it in June, he said that as a coaching staff, we were still “working through it”:
The three with wide starting possibilities are Elijah Moore, Corey Davis and Garrett Wilson. All of them are playable inside and out according to Jets coordinator Mike LaFleur.
Davis will be a very interesting pick with a larger frame (6 foot-3) and ability to compete in catch situations.
While Moore and Wilson’s similar body and game configuration might work for them.
In addition, they have kept the wide receiver, Braxton Berrios, on a two-year deal this season and he has plenty of experience in that role. Berrios will likely serve in the role of curator and will provide relief for those who feel tired on the basis of the series.
It seems unlikely he’ll take the starting spot outright because that means one of the other talent recipients will have to sit on the bench for more moments than you’d like.
Although whoever ends up getting the most reps there could still be a single channel for this LaFleur offense.
For those wondering where to invest their fantasy football money, it will be a battle to watch in training camp.
