Simon Jordan has claimed Arsenal’s signing of both Gabriel Jesus and Raphinha this simmer is a “declaration of intent” from the club.
But the former Crystal Palace owner made it clear that suggesting these two potential signings will propel Arsenal towards the Premier League title is “ridiculous”.
It seems like it’s only a matter of time before the north London club confirm the capture of Manchester City’s Jesus – he was recently spotted hugging Edu Gaspar.
But it’s a different story regarding Leeds United winger Raphinha as Chelsea appear set to be on the verge of agreeing a fee with the Yorkshire club for their star player who has yet to decide where he will move.
Anyway, Arsenal are fishing for the big boys this summer as Jordan revealed if this will put them towards the Premier League title. as he told talkSPORT.
“It will be ridiculous when you imagine two players being signed, one who has played in a side that narrowly avoided relegation, one who has played for an elite side but not the goals for the number of Scores chances that he creates,” he told Jordan.
“What it does is it gives Arsenal fans a certain sense of encouragement.
“If Raphinha ends up at Arsenal, talk about two Brazilian players coming into that team – I think both Jesus and Raphinha are declarations of intent. I think if Arteta is a decent coach he will put her in the right mood.
“They both come from an environment in which they have worked with very interesting coaches. Bielsa and Guardiola.
“So I don’t think anything in this universe or the next in any shape or form is telling you Arsenal are going to win the Premier League very soon. But it will make the race for the top 4 even more exciting.”
JESUS SIGNS BETTER THAN RAPHINHA
For Arsenal they need a player like Jesus more than Raphinha in the situation they are in because he fills that gap with the number nine.
Also, his playing style, ability to play through the front three, connecting the game, creating space for teammates and creativity between the lines is what Mikel Arteta desires the most.
Of course, the addition of Raphinha, having scored 11 Premier League goals for Leeds last season, would take that Arsenal forward line to the next level.
But the most important was Jesus and that seems to have been done, although more is needed with the Gunners’ return to the Europa League.
