Former England international Gabby Agbonlahor doesn’t expect Arsenal to ambush Premier League rivals Everton for Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer, talks to talkSPORT (March 31, 9:20 am).

Calvert-Lewin’s agent may have dismissed speculation that the Goodison Park frontman has already agreed to leave the relegation Toffees in the upcoming transfer window.

But it’s fair to say his future is far from certain at the moment.

The sun (March 27, page 67) claim Everton could sacrifice last season’s 21-goal top scorer to raise funds for a much-needed squad overhaul.

West Ham are interested.

So to an Arsenal side coming on July 1stSt, may not have a single centre-forward in their ranks. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has already left. Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette will also leave as their contracts expire.

Agbonlahor, however, wonders if Calvert-Lewin’s recent troubles – he has scored just three goals in an injury-plagued season – may have ended his chances of a move to one of the division’s high-flyers.

Will Arsenal Sign Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

“I’m not sure Arsenal will want him. He was injured but when he was fit he didn’t stand out this season,” said the former Aston Villa captain.

“Last season he was incredible. But he wasn’t great this season. I think Arsenal are probably looking better, to be honest. He’s a good player but I think Arsenal need to get this (summer window) right.

“You are in a good position now.”

Arsenal, on pole for their Champions League return after 11 wins in their last 14 games, have already fallen short of their number-one striker target since the turn of the year.

Dusan Vlahovic joined Juventus for £62million in January.

Calvert-Lewin isn’t the only England international on Mikel Arteta’s radar, however, as Marcus Rashford ponders his future at Manchester United.

“I don’t think Arsenal would go for Calvert-Lewin to be honest,” adds Agbonlahor.

I think they will bet on Rashford ahead of Calvert-Lewin. Because whatever Everton ask for Calvert-Lewin, it will be a lot. What would you say? £50-60m?”

According to The Sun, Everton will demand an even higher fee for Calvert-Lewin. One in the £70million range.
