Fabrizio Romano says Leeds have now included Club Brugge prodigy Charles De Ketelaere in their shortlist of potential substitutes for Raphinha. The youngster was in brilliant form for Brugge in 2021/22.
Raphinha, 25, keeps closing in on the exit door – despite Leeds rejecting an offer from Arsenal for his services. Romano reports Leeds want £65m or keep the Brazil international at Elland Road.
Leeds have drawn up a substitute list – with big reports over the past 24 hours. Among other things, Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech could come in. Now Romano says Leeds want another, at De Ketelaere.
Before the 21/22 season, De Ketelaere had played 71 times for Brugge – scoring seven goals and appearing on ten. But last season he was involved in 28 goals in 49 games. He became a Belgian international with eight international matches.
Now, Romano reports that Leeds want him. They face competition from Milan – while Newcastle are also said to have an interest in the £34million-rated talent. A player whom Radja Nainggolan described as “very strong”.
Leeds have shortlisted De Ketelaere
It would be a wonderful addition for Leeds – but he would be expensive. He is close to the final two years of his contract at Bruges – but the Belgians are still in a strong position in terms of sales.
It’s really the same scenario with Raphinha and Leeds. Brugge are sure to ask upwards of £30m for their most prized asset. For De Ketelaere himself, it will be tempting to join second-placed Milan; Champions League Soccer.
