A fan poll pits Game of Thrones Season 1 against House of the Dragon. The results may surprise you.

Although House of Dragons wrapped its first season over a month ago, the series is still fresh in the minds of fans as they wait for Season 2. Before the season started, people debated how well House of Dragons would be received after what was arguably a disappointing season finale of Game of Thrones. YouTuber Flaccid Phoenix conducted a poll about a month ago asking fans to vote on which show had a better Season 1. The results were quite surprising.

After a month of running and over 120,000 votes, House of the Dragon gains 56% to 44%. While many fans mocked the ending of Game of Thrones, the first season was a roaring success and garnered a huge following that the George RR Martin adaptations have won over. If this poll is an accurate reflection of the fanbase, HBO definitely hit the mark after missing out on the final season of Game of Thrones. There is an active debate on Reddit, and in some of the comments, many seem to disagree with the results of this poll.

However, there are many reasons to doubt the validity of this survey. The YouTube channel barely has more than 7,000 subscribers, and while it has some videos in the 7-8,000 view range, a good majority of them barely reach more than 300 views. Social Blade shows an increase in viewership during the House of the Dragon season. However, the channel’s community tab regularly polls with over 50,000 votes for a decent clip. The inconsistency of the undercounts and views compared to the poll values ​​raises some questions about the accuracy of the poll and the possibility of bots being used. This is not to say that the channel owner is complicit, but bots are a common reality in any internet survey.

Either way, it’s safe to say that House of the Dragon is a hit for HBO and the upcoming seasons are highly anticipated, continuing the phenomenon that Game of Thrones began a decade ago.
