Fans chant the name of the Tottenham loanee after starring in the 4-1 win on Tuesday night

Dane Scarlett is already a favorite among Portsmouth fans after a video showed Pompey supporters chanting the name of the Tottenham loanee after he played for the League One side in a 4-1 win over Cambridge United on Tuesday night had played the lead role.

Scarlett, 18, has joined Portsmouth on loan for the 2022-23 season, his first move away from Tottenham. He’s already made five appearances and while he hasn’t opened his account yet, he’s definitely making an impression on fans.

His first two appearances off the bench came against Sheffield Wednesday and Lincoln City, before making his Carabao Cup debut against Cardiff City. Now he has started the last two games against Cheltenham and Cambridge.

The England Under-19 international has made 10 senior appearances for Spurs and his form at Portsmouth, although without a goal, could see him earn more. Indeed, Pompey fans are clearly impressed, judging by this video on twitteright

Does Scarlett have a chance of breaking into Tottenham’s senior team on a regular basis? Well, if he’s to have any chance at all, he’ll need to score for Portsmouth on a regular basis. Troy Parrott is above him in the pecking order.

Ireland international Parrott represents his country and scored goals on loan at Preston after an excellent spell at MK Dons last season. Scarlett needs to shine at that level and then impress on loan in the Championship next season.

This is the only way he has a chance to target Antonio Conte. Much like Oliver Skipp who sensationaled with Norwich and earned a place in Tottenham’s senior team. He has a contract with Spurs until June 2026.
