Fans react to a photo of Dorit Kemsley’s children.

Dorit Kemsley shared a picture of her two children, Jagger and Phoenix, mistaking a Rick Caruso for the mayor’s sign, and fans have responded on social media.

In the photo, which appears to have been taken in a classroom or perhaps a playground at the Kemsleys’ home, Jagger and Phoenix smiled as they stood together holding the handmade sign.

In the post’s caption, Kemsley recalled her home break-in and said the “trauma” made her “a lot more sensitive to what’s going on around her.”

“Today is the day we can change the direction of what is happening in this great city of Los Angeles and make it better and safer for our children. I don’t normally use this platform for politics, it’s not my nature, but I know this is the time to speak up and ask the undecided to vote for @rickcarusola. I believe he will not only make this city safer but also make it thrive again,” she continued, encouraging people to vote.

Several people debated children campaigning for elections through their parents

Shortly after Kemsley shared the photo of her two children on social media, a conversation took shape on Reddit. More than 200 comments were posted on the thread and fans have debated the post – while others have pulled Kemsley for her politics.

“I honestly don’t like it when people on both sides use their kids in this way. The kids can’t vote and it’s weird to use them as voting props,” read one comment read.

“I’m a bleeding-heart liberal, and even when my girlfriend posted her kids baking and posing with ‘Bye Don’ cookies when Biden won, I was so disgusted,” someone else wrote.

“Indoctrination before consent happens in so many ways and is always some form of extreme, whether extremist or mundane. This picture is pretty gross on many levels. For a pro-life contestant, using your kids sucks,” said a third Redditor added.

“I hate people who use their children as political props. They’re way too young to understand what they’re doing and what platform it’s being shown on,” a fourth said echoed.

A very different conversation ensued on Instagram after Kemsley shared the post

While Redditors focused on Kemsley’s children, many Instagram users felt that Kemsley’s support of Caruso for mayor was at odds with her support of the Homeless Not Toothless charity, which was featured in Season 12 of RHOBH.

“How do you promote ‘homeless, not toothless’ when you’re promoting a candidate who criminalizes homelessness?” one person commented on Kemsley’s Instagram post.

“Your profile still has a fundraiser for Homeless Not Toothless while campaigning for a candidate who wants to criminalize our most vulnerable population. Such a shame and not surprising either,” someone else wrote.

Kemsley has not responded to the backlash.
