Fans Say Goodbye to “DWTS” After Season 31 Promo

“Dancing With the Stars” season 30

Some fans of long-running ballroom dancing competition Dancing With the Stars are saying goodbye to the show after a new promotional video was released for the upcoming season.

The promotional video was featured on the Dancing With the Stars Twitter feed and later on Instagram.

“Let the magic of dance come alive when #DWTS premieres on September 19.” reads the tweet. “Stream the new season LIVE only on @DisneyPlus!”

A lot of people won’t see Season 31

In responses to Instagram, some fans said they won’t be watching the show’s new season. Many of these reactions can be attributed to the show’s new home on the Disney streaming service, Disney+.

“I don’t have Disney+ bye bye DWTS.” one person commented.

another wrote“As long as this show is still on Disney Plus and they expect me to pay for it, I won’t watch it. Sad that Disney company greed has taken over.”

This isn’t the first time fans have reacted this way in the run-up to the show’s new season. After the first look was unveiled, some said they wouldn’t be watching, and even more said they were boycotting the show because of host Tyra Banks.

“After watching every single season and loving every single minute, I can’t watch you anymore because you charge us for joining Disney+. I’m paying enough for my DIRECTV already so I’m devastated and know you really don’t care, but I can never watch again,” one person replied to the promo.

another wrote“I’m so sad that I can’t watch my favorite show anymore. I saw it from day one it was on. I’ve always loved it and looked forward to it every week.”

Not all reactions to the new trailer have been negative, however.

Fans are excited about the pros featured in the promo

The promotional video heavily features reigning mirrorball champion and Emmy Award-nominated choreographer Daniella Karagach.

It also features a child watching the show with their parents, which is a nod to the demographic shift “Dancing With the Stars” may be hoping for, as they did last season by bringing in pop star JoJo Siwa to have.

That could mean younger celebrities get cast on the show and there’s an emphasis on newer songs.

“Let the magic of dance come alive,” says Karagach in the trailer.

Some fans are excited after seeing the pros front and center.

“Yeah!!! Can’t wait to see who hits the ballroom this season♥️♥️♥️,” one person wrote.

Another commented, “I love that!! Great that we can finally see it on the west coast at the same time as the east coast and we can vote in these dance competitions.”

“@cherylburke was that you!?!? Are you back!?!?,” another person commented.

another wrote“I’m hooked! I always had to watch YouTube because I can’t watch live as I don’t have cable! I only pay for some streaming apps and I’m so excited you’ll be on Disney+.”

Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars premieres on Disney+ on Monday, September 19, 2022. Derek Hough, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will all return, along with Tyra Banks and new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro. Returning professional dancers include Daniella Karagach, Artem Chigvintsev, Brandon Armstrong, Pasha Pashkov, Cheryl Burke and Witney Carson.
