Fans slam ‘Dancing With the Stars’ as ‘unfair’ on ’90s night

Dance relay dwts

Some fans of “Dancing With the Stars” find the dance season unfair.

Some fans of “Dancing With the Stars” are calling the show “unfair” after a relay show was shown on Monday, November 7th episode.

The dance relays were a recurring feature from previous seasons of Dancing With the Stars. This time, pairs of dancers paired up and competed against each other for five additional points.

The winners of the dance relays all moved up the rankings, while the dancers who lost the relay moved down.

Since the bottom two pairs or three pairs, in this case since there was a double elimination, are determined by a combination of judges’ scores and spectator votes, the five extra points were a massive boost for the pairs that got through and won relays.

The two couples sent home, Heidi D’Amelio and Artem Chigvintsev and Vinny Guadagnino and Koko Iwasaki, lost their relays and ended up at the bottom of the rankings.

Chigvintsev later expressed disappointment at his elimination from the competition.

Fans called the seasons ‘pointless’ and ‘unfair’

After the show, some fans took to Reddit to call the seasons pointless and unfair.

“Does anyone else think the relay dances are both pointless and unfair?” wrote one person on Reddit. “Daniel [durant] and Brit [stewart] got a near-perfect score from her first dance, but still ended up with Trevor originally getting… the second-lowest score.

The fan urged the show to pit Gabby Windey against Charli D’Amelio as both have been at the top of the leaderboard for weeks.

“I don’t mind the bonus point opportunities, but I think it’s only totally fair if they don’t dance directly against someone,” the post concluded.

People in the answers indicated that they thought five points was too much of be awarded.

Some fans found the assigned judges unfair

Each relay group was assigned a judge who awarded points without input from the other judges.

Some people didn’t like that aspect of the season and took to Twitter to talk about why that might have been unfair.

Fans were particularly upset when it came to Derek Hough judging Mark Ballas’ dance. Hough and Ballas are very close, going so far as to say they’ve been more brothers than friends in the past, and some fans felt it was unfair that Ballas was judged by such a close friend.

“derek, being the judge for the charli & gabby season feels unfair. as I really don’t think that should be allowed. there’s no way he doesn’t have a marker propensity #dwts”, reads a tweet.

A person on Reddit also commented on the possible bias.

“Giving Gabby and Charli to Derek was the most biased choice they could find … like Derek was BFFs with Mark and knew Charli before the show.” they write.

During the episode, some fans expressed the feeling that couples on the show weren’t fairly rated.

The next episode of “Dancing With the Stars” will feature another double elimination after each couple danced twice during the two-hour show.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8pm ET/5pm PT on Disney+. The season finale will air Monday, November 21, 2022. Fans slam ‘Dancing With the Stars’ as ‘unfair’ on ’90s night
