Reality Steve has been spoiled by the “Bachelor” franchise shows for years, and many fans have always wondered how he gets his spoilers. In the earlier seasons of the various shows, Steve often had early spoilers and was almost always absolutely correct.
Reality Steve, whose full name is Steve Carbone, has previously said that people email him tips — whether they see the lead on a date or know who the lead ends up with.
“They just wanted to feel like they were a part of it, wanted to feel like they helped,” he said said the New York Times in 2016.
In recent seasons, Carbone has had a harder time getting spoilers and he has blamed the coronavirus pandemic for that. according to screenrant. For example, for the season of Matt James’ The Bachelor, every episode was filmed at the Nemacolin Resort in Pennsylvania, which meant Carbone didn’t receive anonymous tips from people outside of the series. He still spoiled the season finale, but it just took a little longer.
Traveling was back to normal with Clayton Echard’s season of The Bachelor, but Carbone didn’t have any final spoilers until a few weeks into the season. Some fans think it’s because he received information from someone who works on the show and no longer works for the franchise — but who?
Here’s what you need to know:
Some fans believe former producer Elan Gale leaked information to Carbone
Fans have noted that Carbone’s spoilers have become a bit more unreliable of late – insofar as he simply doesn’t get the information he needs to confirm how a given season ends until the season is almost over.
This has led many fans to believe that Carbone got spoilers from someone who worked on the show and is no longer part of the franchise. The first guess is Elan Gale.
Gale began working as a producer on The Bachelorette in 2009 and has been an integral part of The Bachelor for several years. However, in 2018 he decided to part ways with the franchise.
“He felt it was time to move on,” a source said said Us Weekly.
A Reddit thread that opened a discussion about why Carbone’s spoilers aren’t what they used to be had several fans suggesting he got spoilers from Gale.
“I think his mole was Elan Gale. The departure of Elan fits perfectly with RS being so much less reliable.” wrote one Redditor.
“I think his source was Elan and Elan gave him a lot of information about each episode and the drama in the house. Elan left either before or after the Peters season I think. read another comment.
“I agree with some people that one of the producers (maybe Elan) was one of the people he got spoilers from (time sense)” a third wrote.
“I also think it was Elan. RS has also done a lot of paid advertising for FBoy Island, Elan’s new show. There has to be a connection.” read a fourth comment.
There’s a fan conspiracy that Chris Harrison gave Carbone his spoilers
In addition to fans thinking Gale passed spoilers to Carbone, there are also some people who believe former franchise host Chris Harrison was the culprit.
“He didn’t have Peter’s end until the morning of the final so I don’t think Covid is the reason or that Chris Harrison was his source.” suggested one Redditor.
«CH can no longer be reached to give him information» another person wrote.
As for how Carbone gets its spoilers these days, well, fans aren’t exactly sure. However, there’s at least one person who thinks the show’s creator, Mike Fleiss, could provide Carbone with some tidbits.
“I personally believe his new source is Mike Fliess [sic]Mike Fliess [sic] doesn’t give him that much info but just tells him the FIR and gives him screener links to recent episodes. read a comment.
