Some longtime fans of “Dancing With the Stars” say they won’t be watching the show’s upcoming season after the first look was released.
The series’ first promo video for Season 31 was released on August 11, 2022. The video includes clips from animated Disney movies including Beauty and the Beast, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Lion King, The Princess and the Frog and more. Also starring are judges Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Len Goodman, as well as host Tyra Banks and new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro.
The promotion confirms the show’s premiere date and time as September 19, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. EST on Disney+.
Now that all the information is confirmed, some fans are saying they won’t be there to see the new season.
Some fans don’t want or can’t pay for Disney Plus
Some fans don’t pay for Disney Plus, which currently costs $7.99 per month. However, starting December 8th, the price will increase to $10.99 per month for people who want the premium service without ads.
For the duration of “Dancing With the Stars,” the service is said to cost $7.99 per month, and the show will air ad-free. per TV line.
“Everything is streamed” one person tweeted. “Wtf not everyone has high speed internet or the money for those services. That sucks.”
One person tweeted, “This is awful… not everyone can afford ‘Disney plus’ to watch DWTS…. I will lose a lot of reviews.
Many fans took to the comments section on Instagram to share their frustration.
“I will miss the first season as I DO NOT PAY FOR ANY OTHER STREAMING SERVICE.” one person wrote. “I can afford it, but I don’t, and it saddens me that so many big fans with steady incomes can’t afford it.”
Another person commented, “Nope!! For the first time since season one, I won’t be watching!!”
Some fans are sad that they can no longer watch the show.
“You’re moving to Disney 😢can’t pay fees anymore..maybe I can watch when DWTS returns to ABC. Why change something that is going well ☹️”, a comment reads.
Another person commented“After watching season 1, I probably won’t be anymore.”
Hearing that some fans can’t afford Dancing With the Stars, professional dancer Val Chmerkovskiy offered to pay for a few subscriptions to the service for a year.
Some fans will not watch because of the presenter
Others just won’t watch because of the host.
“I have Disney Plus but can’t watch #tyrabanks saunter and scream through this show.” one person tweeted. “It’s just not the same without @Tom_Bergeron.”
A person commented on Instagram, “Tira is still here. No thank you.”
Some fans are hoping the move means they can watch previous seasons of Dancing With the Stars on Disney+, though there’s no announcement about seasons that have aired on ABC.
“We also need the older seasons of Disney Plus,” one person tweeted in response to the promotional video.
Another fan wrote“Are you going to add all older seasons to Disney+ as well?”
Season 31 of Dancing With the Stars premieres on Disney+ on Monday, September 19, 2022. Derek Hough, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will all return, along with Tyra Banks and new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro.
