FCC asks Apple and Google to block TikTok from app stores

There’s a new impetus to push TikTok out of the app stores.

The head of the FCC is urging both Apple and Google to launch the video app – saying they have collected a lot of sensitive data that the owners of TikTok in China can access.

Google and Apple have not yet commented on the matter. They would have to voluntarily comply with the request because the FCC has no jurisdiction over internet-based services.

Unsubscribing from TikTok will also not prevent users from downloading. Apps can be installed on both iPhones and Android devices from websites that are not official app stores.
