FFVII Ever Crisis Lifeguard Tifa doesn’t look like a lifeguard

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis introduced its first seasonal event and with it a handful of new costumes for characters like Tifa, Zack and Red XIII. While Zack’s outfit is more or less what you would expect considering he has a defined look Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VIIthe team is working on it Always crisis Tifa and Red XIII had more or less free rein. While what she wrote for “Red FFVII Ever Crisis Tifa’s lifeguard equipment misses its target.

I’m not entirely sure what Square Enix’s purpose was with the Lifeguard Tifa outfit. When you think of a lifeguard, you generally think of the color red. However, in FFVII Ever CrisisInstead, she wears a black bikini hidden under a semi-sheer white T-shirt, a black denim skirt with utility buckles hanging down the front, driving gloves, elbow pads, and a trucker hat that says “Seventh Heaven.” The outfit feels more or less like it belongs Final Fantasy XV, which isn’t a bad thing per se. But that’s not it Final Fantasy XV Crossover event or a collaboration with character designer Roberto Ferrari. However, if you told me that he worked on this costume, I would believe you. Because this outfit definitely has shades of Cidney Aurum. That doesn’t mean I don’t like this outfit. However, similar to Cidney’s, Tifa’s outfit does not seem to be thematically appropriate for the task associated with this costume.

This could have been a really great opportunity for Square Enix to make something fun out of Tifa’s lifeguard outfit FFVII Ever Crisis. Instead, it just looks relatively cheap and out of place. In comparison, Red’s outfit feels like Square Enix was bolder with its outfit because they didn’t have to limit themselves to selling something based solely on casual sex appeal. The design itself therefore seems like a mixed bag, as it doesn’t belong on the beach, despite Tifa’s bikini peeking out from under her too-short skirt or her bikini top being visible through what’s clearly a support for her wet, white shirt.

Regardless, the outfit probably would have looked better if Square Enix had gone with something more unique. Yes, it could have resulted in Tifa actually wearing a lifeguard uniform or simply changing her into more appropriate, casual beachwear. It could have been more coherent and to the point.

Final Fantasy VII Ever Crisis is now available for Android and iOS. The Beach Fun Festival event is available in FFVII at all Crisis until September 28, 2023.
