FFXIV: Where to get the Smaragdine Emerald Weapons
Although these went almost unnoticed in the patch notes, we did get some new glowing weapons in Final Fantasy XIV 6.5 “Growing Light”. These are all modeled after the original weapons we received in the Shadowbringers Emerald Weapon Trial, Castrum Marinum. If you’re looking for one of these special, shiny versions of these weapons, get ready to either grind for a while or open your wallet.
How to get the Emerald Weapons in FFXIV
The new versions of the Emerald Weapon’s armament are obtained through crafting. The recipes can be found in the Master Recipes books (VIII) for each of the crafts required for the weapons (Blacksmith, Weaponsmith, Goldsmith and Alchemist). To craft them, the craftsman must be at least level 80. Each recipe uses one Emerald coating as a key element and that’s exactly what makes it special.
The Emerald Shell can be obtained as a random drop from the Castrum Marinum (Extreme) Trial, but can also be obtained by using Desynthesis in the weapons dropped in the same service. This item is tradable, so you can buy it from other players. But just like other weapon crafting items, you’ll have to be prepared to spend a few thousand gil to get your hands on one of these.
You can use the totems you get in the Emerald Weapon Battle to purchase weapons to dismantle. It is highly recommended to purchase the paladin’s emerald weapons as you get both sword and shield for the same number of totems and both have an equal chance of gaining armor.
The weapons themselves can also be traded, but they will seek even higher amounts on the board. Unless you’ve just saved some “don’t care” money and just want your new nice weapon as quickly as possible, farming for the Emerald Shell and crafting your dream weapon is your best bet.
The other materials vary depending on the weapon, but these are common Shadowbringers items and are not as expensive as plating. Plus, since it’s a Shadowbringers-era weapon, There are no Emerald Weapons for Reaper and Sage.
Thanks to the unrestricted group, older tasks are easier to complete these days. So you can create a farming group using the group finder to do some farming quickly. This is the perfect opportunity to secure this battle’s mount if you haven’t already. As cool as the new mounts are in the 6.5 patch, there are also some great things you can get from previous expansions.
