Fire in Belgravia: Fire sweeps through a listed building on Eaton Place

A four-storey house in Belgravia, where apartments are selling for £3million, is on fire as 80 firefighters try to tackle the blaze.
The London Fire Brigade was called to the scene at Eaton Place at 11.41am. There are currently 12 fire engines in action.
The Grade I listed Georgian property has set fire to “a significant portion of the roof and an apartment on the fourth floor”.
Units from across London including Clapham, Dowgate, Soho and Hammersmith were deployed to the scene where property was badly damaged.

According to the London Fire Brigade: “Firefighters are fighting a fire in the roof of a four storey block of flats. A significant part of the roof and an apartment on the fourth floor are on fire.
“The brigade control office has received 26 calls about the fire.”
Residents in the area have been advised to keep their doors and windows closed due to smoke, while motorists should avoid Belgravia due to road closures around Eaton Place.
The cause of the fire has not yet been clarified. There are no reports of injuries yet.
