For New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, it’s Albany as always

It was blissful for a season to imagine New York Gov. Kathy Hochul being a moderating influence in Albany. But examine the state budget deal it canceled last week, which is peppered with union and corporate welfare as it charts an imprudent fiscal course. Ms. Hochul is Andrew Cuomo with no self-control.

The most outrageous goal of the $220 billion deal is $600 million to help Ms. Hochul’s hometown football team, the Buffalo Bills, build a new stadium. The New York Post reports that the stadium subsidy was part of a scramble that drove up the overall price of the budget. “The tradeoff is we get $4 billion to add $216 billion to Hochuls,” a Democrat from the congregation told the newspaper.
