The Philadelphia Eagles fans went to great lengths to get Tyrann Mathieu to wear the midnight green jersey. The team desperately needs safety at the start and Honey Badger is a free agent. Let’s agree.
Mathieu remained unsigned after the Kansas City Chiefs allowed him to walk in free agency. It was a bit confusing to see him sitting out there. Then again, the three-time All-Pro defender doesn’t grow on the tree and the asking price seems insanely high.
Spotrac predicts Mathieu’s average annual salary to be $14.8 million. That price tag may sound too expensive for a Philly franchise stuck in the “building” phase of growing their list, even though the transfer isn’t counted. The Eagles are one of eight teams that want to “sign” Mathieu, each Jordan Schultz.
There’s a lot to like about the safety of Mathieu and Anthony Harris’ parallel start in Philadelphia. The 29-year-old will be a great backstop and mentor to any young players selected in the draft in April. So when Mathieu posted a “Grateful” Twitter Message – one that included a green heart emoji – internet managers had a field day. He’s definitely going out to play for the Eagles. Sure.
“Being grateful doesn’t mean you have to love every part of your life,” Mathieu wrote. “It’s okay to feel hurt when something doesn’t turn out the way you thought it would, especially for something you’ve put a lot of heart into. Gratitude means that no matter what happens or what you go through, you can appreciate the journey, the greater purpose of those difficult moments, and have faith in your heart that you enough and what you deserve will somehow. at the right time. ”

Howie Roseman Says Eagles ‘Building’
The idea of signing a lucrative contract with Mathieu would go against everything the Eagles have preached throughout the season. General Manager Howie Roseman does not want to mortgage his future, instead he continues to preach the message of “team building”. This is not a team looking for a piece of the puzzle to get them through the championship hole.
“We are building. Roseman told reporters via NJ Advance Media. “We have too many resources, we have too many good young players to be like that. … If you’re building on a foundation, you don’t want to start taking away the pillars of that foundation. ”
Roseman’s actions support that. The Eagle is quieter than a monastery in free agency. And that oath of silence seems to be the new norm for the 2022 campaign.
Genard Avery, Boston Scott Sign the agreement
The Pittsburgh Steelers officially signed Genard Avery to a one-year contract on Thursday. The 26-year-old defender spent the past three seasons in Philly before joining the free agency. The Eagles traded the fourth round of 2021 to the Cleveland Browns to buy Avery in 2019.
Meanwhile, Boston Scott officially signed a one-year contract to return to the Eagles on March 30. He raced for 373 yards on the ground last season with seven touches. Scott was a key contributor to the game and made four appearances when injuries forced Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard out of action.
