‘Vanderpump Rules’ star Lala Kent’s ex-fiancé Randall Emmett is facing a lawsuit over a loan a production company says he failed to repay. The lawsuit against Emmett and other defendants originated in December 2020 and was dropped earlier this year, only to be reinstated on March 28, 2022. The sun unveiled this week.

The publication reported that it received the court documents in a lawsuit filed by production company Potato Eater Productions, LLC. In the filing, the production company claimed that Emmett “refused to repay a $287,000 loan” in relation to his new film, Hair of the Dog. Potato Eater Productions argued that Hair of the Dog, LLC; Emmett Furla Oasis Films, LLC; and Emmett had agreed to pay them the $287,000 by April 20, 2020, but had not done so, The Sun reported.

These court documents showed that Emmett and the other defendants denied these allegations. Heavy reached out to Emmett and Potato Eater Productions for comment, but received no response.

The Claimant alleges that he entered into a loan agreement, but Emmett and his co-defendants have denied this

The preserved court documents The sun said all parties signed a “development loan agreement” for payments for the film “on or about” December 13, 2019, but Emmett and his co-defendants denied entering into that agreement, the publication wrote. It also stated that they refused to pay Potato Eater Productions that amount and to make “changes” to the document.

The defendants said they made some payments to the plaintiff but the amount of money was not provided. According to The Sun, Potato Eater Productions accused Emmett of “being in outstanding debt to them”. The court cleared the case in February 2022 but later resumed on March 28, and The Sun reported on April 8 that the judge issued a formal statement that the case was officially open.

Hair of the Dog is currently in pre-production and is scheduled for release in 2023 IMDB. The description reads, “An executive caught up in a blackmail scheme discovers he’s just a pawn in a larger, darker plan.”

It was previously reported that Emmett was having some financial troubles

The lawsuit comes as Emmett is already facing legal and financial problems. The film producer filed some court documents in 2021 requesting a cut in alimony to ex-wife Ambyr Childers due to his “significant debts”. page six reported.

In that filing, Emmett argued that he had “accumulated at least $500,000 in debt to the IRS” and could not continue making the same deposits. According to Page Six, he wrote, “I’ve only produced one film in 2020 as opposed to several in normal years, so my income has been drastically reduced and I have liquidity problems.” He argued that continuing to fund the bank account for the “non-tuition-related expenses” of his children “would lead to great financial difficulties and force me to file for bankruptcy”.

Emmett and Childers were married in 2009 and separated in 2016, their divorce finalized in 2017. They share two daughters, London, 11, and Rylee, 8. Kent called off her three-year engagement to Emmett, 51, in the fall of 2021 and claimed he cheated on her while she was pregnant with their daughter Ocean. page six reported.
