Montgomery City Council District 4 now has a new representative.

Franetta Riley was elected as the district’s next councilwoman in Tuesday’s runoff election.

Although the results are unofficial, Riley had 1,183 votes compared to challenger Kahlia Bell’s 843. The results will be confirmed next Tuesday.

Riley’s victory in a five-way race comes after current District 4 Councilwoman Audrey Billups Graham failed to make it to the runoff in the Aug. 22 general election.

District 4 includes areas west of Interstate 65 as well as neighborhoods east of I-65 that are south of Fairview Avenue and west of Court Street.
