Fulham are looking to sign Dapo Afolayan, former West Ham United starlet from Bolton Wanderers, after sealing his return to the Premier League, as reported by Bolton News.
We’ve been here before.
In both 2018 and 2020, Fulham splashed out a significant amount of money after promotion and ended up right where they started.
So the challenge Marco Silva and company face this time around is finding a balance between strengthening a side that has made mincemeat of the championship while still retaining the spirit, togetherness and consistency they have shown , while racking up an impressive 26 wins in 42 league games.
Who will Fulham sign?
If Fulham are just too good for the division they were in in 2021/22, the same could probably be said of Afolayan.
The rising 24-year-old, who joined Bolton after just one game in three seasons at West Ham, has six assists, 14 goals and countless Man of the Match accolades this season.
According to Bolton News, Fulham and Cardiff City have caught the eye of Afolayan’s electrifying performances. What’s more, the former Chelsea child is only the second Bolton player in the last 20 years to have scored more than a dozen goals in a league campaign.
“I love the variety in his game,” said former EFL star Jobi McAnuff Heaven a few months ago. “Which is certainly a big improvement for me since I saw him last season
“He has that presence and really expresses himself, he collects nice bags on the field. He takes on people, some nice through balls. So it’s a really nice mix of variation and growth that I’ve certainly seen in his game.
“He looked like a player who plays with absolute top confidence.”
Fulham are also reportedly keen on PSV’s Mexico midfielder Erick Gutierrez, Internacional’s Caio Vidal and Marco Silva’s former Olympiacos man Arthur Masuaku. Not to mention another ex-West Ham starlet in Josh Cullen.
Fulham will also soon complete the signing of Manor Solomon.
