Gimmighoul, the Coin Chest Pokémon, officially revealed for Scarlet & Violet

news

This is the first Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet that is known to have two different forms that change its type and appearance.

After a weekend of teasing on social media and in Pokemon GO, the Pokemon Company has finally unveiled Gimmighoul, a brand new Pokemon that will be available in Scarlet and Purple when it releases later this month.

The teasing began on Saturday when the official Pokemon Twitter account posted cryptic messages with times and numbers that linked to a mysterious “chest” website.

As the day progressed, the chest kept opening, and now it’s finally opening all the way. This leads us to a page where Gimmighoul is officially revealed.

Gimmighul is called the “Coin Chest Pokemon”. It has two forms: breast form and roaming form.

At the moment we mostly only know information about his breast shape. It’s a Ghost-type Pokemon with the Rattled Ability. It looks like a small, flat bug in a treasure chest filled with coins.

Gimmighoul’s roaming form still holds some secrets. It doesn’t necessarily have to be Ghost-type or have the same Rattled ability. This form was teased in Pokemon GO over the weekend. Gold Pokestops appeared after the end of Community Day and awarded coins when spun. After a while, Gimmighoul appeared on the map and followed the player character.

You can learn more about Gimmighoul in the video below, posted by the official Pokemon YouTube channel, where researchers Jacq and Willow talk about the discovery. You can also visit the official Pokemon website for more information.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be released later this month on November 18th.
