Global media rounds out ‘rude’ Hugh Grant over ‘painful’ Oscar interview with Ashley Graham

Hugh Grant has been slammed by global media for his “painfully awkward” red carpet interview with Ashley Graham last night at the Oscars.
The 62-year-old actor lacked any enthusiasm as he walked out to the event in Los Angeles – and showed open contempt for the 34-year-old supermodel’s questions.
Grant was berated by the media at home and abroad for shutting down the enthusiastic reporter and even rolling his eyes during the “agonizing” interview about his brief cameo in the film Glass Onion.
At the start of the interview, Ms Graham asked him, “What was it like being on Glass Onion? How fun is it to shoot something like that?’
But she received an awkward reply: “Well, I’m barely in, I was in about three seconds,” Grant replied.

Hugh Grant has been slammed as a “piece of s**t” and an “a**hole” by global media for his “painfully awkward” red carpet interview with Ashley Graham
‘It must have been fun anyway, you had fun right?’ said the 34-year-old as she drove through the awkward conversation.
“Um… almost,” the actor replied as he looked away.
Grinning and carrying the interview, the model asked, “What are you wearing?” while Hugh offered a revealing, “My suit.”
In the episodes since the interview, Norwegian publication TV2 ran the headline “What a piece of shit” below a picture of the Notting Hill actor in reference to the social media backlash he has endured.
Meanwhile, French outlet FranceDaily headlined: “Hugh Grant rolls eyes after painfully awkward Oscars red carpet interview”.
In a brutal review of the interview with The Four Weddings and a Funeral star, the article began by saying, “Why stop doing a red carpet interview when you’re going to be an asshole on live TV?”
“That’s the question we put to Hugh Grant, who literally rolled his eyes after refusing every single question Ashley Graham asked during the Oscars pre-show, which aired on ABC Sunday.”

Italian newspaper Il Messaggero also joined in the backlash, accusing Grant of “taking a rude attitude during the interview and responding with a bored, patently disinterested manner”.
They added: “Despite the journalist’s attempts to produce normal dialogue, the face of ‘Notting Hill’ has chosen to be monosyllabic and at times scornful.”
The US magazine Rolling Stone did not hold back either and explained: “Hugh Grant had a bad night when he emerged from the ceremony as the undisputed b***** queen. He did a red carpet interview with Ashley Graham, rolling his eyes and complaining about not getting enough screen time in Glass Onion.
The outlet also took to their social media channels to dig up Grant, tweeting, “And the Oscar for Best Actress goes to Ashley Graham, who tells Hugh Grant it was nice talking to you.”
Grant’s harrowing interview was felt far and wide, with Greek publication OEMA making the headline: “Killing Rude Hugh Grant and Ashley Graham’s snob interview at the Oscars”. They, too, criticized Grant for being “awkward” and “short.”
Meanwhile, the Washington Post called Grant’s interview “excruciating,” and Swedish newspaper Expressen simply asked, “But what do you say, Hugh Grant?”
Italian website Corriere rated various actors’ performances at the Oscars, but as expected, Grant was not rated highly. The Love Actually star scored four out of ten and was branded “impish.”

They said: “He did everything he could to dampen the interviewer’s enthusiasm”.
Those watching the 95th Academy Awards at home flocked to social media last night to criticize Grant, with some calling him “awkward,” “painful” and “awkward.”
It took a moment away from a stunning night out in Hollywood where Everything Everywhere All At Once reigned supreme at the Academy Awards with seven wins including Best Picture, while Michelle Yeoh picked up Best Actress for her role in the film.
Brendan Fraser capped off his incredible career comeback by winning Best Actor for his role in The Whale.
