Guide to LASO in Halo Infinite – What is LASO and how to beat it

There are few achievements in the gaming industry that tend to hold more traction than completing a LASO level in a Halo title. LASO stands for Legendary, All Skulls On. In the franchise, this means the game is played entirely on the hardest difficulty setting, with all optional gameplay modifiers (called skulls) enabled.

In the Master Chief Collection, skulls are initially available to activate, allowing the player to immediately enter a LASO level. However, in Halo Infinite, the player must first Collect skulls hidden in the campaign.

LASO tends to be one of the most grueling achievements out there in the Halo franchise. On Steam, the Master Chief collection holds the full LASO achievement for all titles with a 0.3% completion rate, with over a million players in the competition. Specific skulls tend to make this difficult:

  • Blind remove HUD.
  • Thunderstorm adds an extra rank to most enemies.
  • Black eyes only allows the shield to be reloaded after a successful melee attack.
  • Starvation effectively cuts the available ammo in half.

The good news is that Halo Infinite is by far the easiest game to LASO. Includes a new skull, Bandana.

The open world allows the player to step back after a failed interaction, and the FOBs scattered throughout the game allow the player to customize their payload. The Master Chief also has rechargeable gadgets that can be further invested to increase their potency. Finally, the Marines the player will encounter are resourceful and dangerous, and can reliably eliminate threats at a wide range of engagements.

For players to start LASO, start a new campaign on Legendary difficulty and activate all twelve skulls. The player’s biggest concern will be the checkpoints – Iron Skull (the quest that restarts on death) is not present in Infinite. Players will only get a checkpoint when their shield is full and the duration of a checkpoint is an unknown factor as the HUD is disabled through the Blind. However, AI scanning will still be available to help players complete their quests. Guide to LASO in Halo Infinite – What is LASO and how to beat it
