Terrell Owens celebrates his induction into the Hall of Fame with the San Francisco 49ers.

While Jimmy Garoppolo may not be the most popular member of the San Francisco 49ers right now, given that his combination safety-interception was one of the most “memetic” moments of the NFL’s Week 3, some of his prospects under center remain incredibly high. Colin Cowherd believes the Niners will be fine, as will Super Bowl winner Sean Payton’s head coach, and even Terrell Owensthe one-time Niners wide receiver and perennial Hall of Famer, joined in the fun and suggested that not only is Garoppolo good, but that the Washington Commanders should have acted against the product from eastern Illinois instead Carson Wentz.

In conversation with Josina Anderson and Fred Smoot on Podcast “The Crew”. Owens staked his claim as transcribed in 95.7 The Game.

“To be honest, you would have been better off with Jimmy Garoppolo,” Owens said. “I don’t understand why you think Carson Wentz is the answer. Carson Wentz hasn’t been the answer at any of the last two or three stops he’s been. I understand you were once employed by the Washington franchise organization, but now you’re political with the stiff answers.”

Considering the Commanders infamously nearly traded a “pair of picks” to acquire Garoppolo before he opted for offseason surgery, the fates of the two quarterbacks — and their franchise — will be linked in 2022 be.

Terrell Owens really doesn’t like Carson Wentz

Elsewhere in his appearance on “the crew,Owens offered his opinion on Commanders quarterback Carson Wentz, and of course she wasn’t particularly generous.

“We get that from Carson Wentz. We probably saw Wentz’s best when he was with the Philadelphia Eagles. That’s just the honesty and reality of it,” Owens claimed. “Every stop he’s made has given you a glimpse of what he could be, but there’s no consistency. And I think we can all agree with his game. No matter how good a God-given talent he has, it doesn’t show up the way it should on game day, Sunday.”

Down 2-1, the Commanders suffered their worst loss of the season in Week 3 when the Philadelphia Eagles, another of Owens’ former teams, fired Wentz nine times en route to a final 24-8 score. While Wentz wasn’t the Commanders’ only concern in 2022 if the team continues to struggle to advance, the North Dakota State product may be looking for its fourth team in as many seasons by spring.

Sean McVay respects the San Francisco 49ers quarterback

When asked about facing Garoppolo on Monday Night Football, Sean McVay warned against overlooking the veteran signal caller. to Ram’s Wire.

“First of all, you never wish players injuries,” McVay began. “They hope Trey Lance makes a full recovery. But you also know this man when he [Garoppolo] stayed in the squad he’s such a really good soccer player that definitely stood out for them. They’ve won many games behind his tutelage and leadership and I think he’s a really good player. I don’t think he only played well against the Rams and never played well against anyone else.”

“I mean, just look at his career record, starting for the 49ers since he and [San Francisco 49ers FB] Kyle was 17 together. It’s a pretty good movie for these guys. So he’s a really good footballer. I don’t know if you’re ever really too ahead of yourself, but if you were to say this, “I’m shocked Jimmy is in this position.” No, I’m not shocked. I hate Trey’s ankle injury, but that’s part of football and lucky for them, they had two great, early-caliber quarterbacks on their list. Now Jimmy is able to lead his team. I know they have a lot of confidence bragging about him over the counter.”

San Francisco will need that boast in Week 4 as the Niners play their most high-profile game of the year yet on Monday Night Football against McVay’s Los Angeles Rams.
