Hallmark’s Aurora Teagarden returns with a twist

Big news has just surfaced that’s sure to excite Hallmark fans. The future of the fan-favorite Aurora Teagarden series was unknown after Candace Cameron Bure left Hallmark for Great American Family in 2022. The series was never canceled by Hallmark, but as the talent shift unfolded, the network admitted they had no other Teagarden films in the works. There has been some talk of the Aurora Teagarden series moving to Great American Family, with Bure saying at one point “it’s very possible”. After months of no news about the fate of the series, details have emerged revealing its return. However, the upcoming Aurora Teagarden movie will differ from previous installments in at least one significant way.

Hallmark to direct Aurora Teagarden prequel

On March 9th ET Online revealed that Hallmark is about to film a new offering within the Aurora Teagarden series. However, it won’t pick up where the previous 18 films Hallmark presented between 2015 and 2022 left off. Instead, Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New will be a prequel.

Marilu Henner will be back to play Aida Teagarden, Aurora’s mother. However, new actors will be brought in to play Aurora and Arthur Smith. The new rate will be set in the days after Aurora finishes college and returns to Lawrenceton. Aurora will take a few jobs when she returns home, but her friend Sally’s wedding rehearsal is bogged down when her fiancé doesn’t show up. A body is soon discovered and Sally’s groom-to-be is a suspect. Of course, Aurora will get to the bottom of the mystery of it all and it appears that Sally and Arthur will be by her side.

Skyler Samuels will portray Aurora and actor Evan Roderick will play Arthur. As Samuel’s IMDb page Details, She has previously appeared in a few episodes of American Horror Story and Scream Queens and has had brief roles in Disney shows such as The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, That’s So Raven, and Wizards of Waverly Place.” More recently, she starred in The Gabby Petito Story and portrayed Petito. Roderick’s most notable earlier role was detailed in Arrow. his IMDb pageand he also starred in Hallmark’s A Tale of Two Christmases in 2022.

Many Hallmark fans seem excited to see the new Aurora Teagarden movie

Will Hallmark fans embrace this Aurora Teagarden prequel given Bure’s absence? The announcement drew a somewhat mixed reaction on social media. However, there seemed to be more positivity and excitement than negativity.

“I love the 18 original films. Now Hallmark is making a prequel without Candace and Niall. I won’t watch. Leave Ro alone.” countered another Twitter user.

“I’ve been waiting for this Aurora Teagarden reboot and it’s finally here! I’m so excited to see Skyler Samuels star and explore her younger years. I can’t wait to watch!” read another twitter post.

In a thread for “Hallmark Movies” Reddit subHer posters seemed delighted with the news. Some noted that they were thrilled that Henner would remain involved, and a few Redditors admitted they were even more interested in the Aurora Teagarden brand now that Bure has left Hallmark. A premiere date for Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New has not yet been announced.
