At least six people died in a mass shooting in a church in Hamburg on March 9, 2023. according to DW.

The Hamburg police wrote on Twitter, “According to initial findings, a shot was fired in a church on Deelbögestrasse in the #GroßBorstel district. Several people were seriously injured, some even fatally. We are on site with a large contingent of emergency services. Further information follows. #shootout #h0903.”

“Several people were killed and some injured after a shooting in Hamburg, the police said.” The German news service DPA tweeted.

According to DW At least six people died in the shooting at a Jehovah’s Witnesses center on Deelböge Street.

The Hamburg police tweeted: “So far there is no reliable information on the motive. We ask that you do not share unsecured assumptions and/or spread rumours.”

Officials in Hamburg warned the public to avoid the area, reports said

In an update, DPA tweeted: “One or more people have shot at people in a Hamburg church in Groß Borstel, the city’s interior authorities are warning the public to avoid the area.”

The Hamburg police wrote on Twitter, “#Currently there is a major police operation in #Alsterdorf. We are currently investigating the background and will provide more information here shortly.”
