Has Biden admitted to “coordinating Trump’s impeachments” for political gain?

Claim:

A video authentically shows US President Joe Biden confirming that his team is “coordinating Trump’s impeachments” in 2023 to prevent the former US President from taking power again.

Evaluation:

On April 3, 2023, a Twitter user posted a video of US President Joe Biden claiming it showed his team using the hush money charge against former President Donald Trump in New York to prevent the former President from takes power again.

“And there it is — he said the soft part out loud.” tweeted @DC_Draino. “Biden has all but confirmed that his team is coordinating these charges against Trump to ‘prevent Trump from taking power again’.”

While the video clip posted by the user is authentic from Biden, the claim was false. The clip was part of a 54-minute video by Biden press conference on November 9, 2022, the day after the midterm election results, meaning Biden was not referring to Trump’s criminals accusation was announced by the Manhattan Attorney’s Office on March 30, 2023.

Twitter added a community note to @DC_Draino’s tweet saying it was “a digitally altered video created by a meme account called ‘I Meme Therefore I Am’ claiming to be ‘parody sometimes’.”

The Twitter user then challenged the community note. “This video has been flagged as Deep Fake by @CommunityNotes, but it is a real clip from Biden’s presser on 11/9/22,” while acknowledging that Biden’s comments were made months ago and not after Trump’s most recent indictment Amid charges, he paid off ex-movie star Stormy Daniels to remain silent before being elected.

BBC reporter Shayan Sardarizadeh, in a series of tweetsShe also said the video was from Biden. However, he also pointed out the false claim, noting that Biden’s comments “in response to a question about Trump’s re-election, not the latest indictment.” Biden’s comments focused on the results of the midterm elections, which showed the Republican Party not doing as well as they had expected, and the G-7 countries who expressed concern about Trump’s comeback (after 2024).

Biden made the remarks after a reporter asked him about his reaction to the former president’s upcoming announcement of another presidential bid.
