Lauren Luyendyk and her husband Arie Luyendyk met on his season of The Bachelor and are one of the franchise’s success stories.
The couple have three children; a daughter named Alessi and twins named Lux and Senna. After Lauren and Arie had twins, they chose Arie to have a vasectomy.
“I’m definitely a bit afraid of it. Lauren and I had a long chat about this last night and I have a feeling that’s where she put her mind for a while,” Arie said posted in a vlog in February 2022.
“It’s a big decision and obviously one that we made as a family. We love our kids so much and we’re doing fine with three, but I’m still scared. I feel like I’m taking one for the team here, but that’s the least I can do after her pregnancies and I’ll just try not to think about it too much,” he said.
However, it seems like the couple is unsure if their family is complete.
Here’s what you need to know:
Lauren said she and Arie aren’t ready to repeat the conversation about having a fourth child
in the an interview with OK! magazineLauren explained that she and Arie haven’t really talked about expanding their family in the past few months.
“Honestly, it’s going to be a while before we reconsider this, but I think that would only happen if we adopt,” she told the outlet. “Arie had his vasectomy, and I really don’t want to go through that again physically, so I think if we had another kid, we’d adopt him,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Lauren has mentioned adoption either. In January 2022, she shared on her Instagram Stories that adoption would be the path she and Arie would take as they expand their brood.
“We both agreed that if we ever decided we wanted another child, this would be the path we would take,” she said at the time. according to Us Weekly.
Arie & Lauren made the decision not to have any more children shortly after the birth of their twins
Not long after Lauren gave birth to Senna and Lux, she and Arie were both on the same page when it came to having more kids. In fact, during an Instagram Q&A shared on Lauren’s Instagram Stories, Lauren and Arie told their followers that they were done having kids.
“No, no more babies,” Arie said. according to People magazine.
“Time for a vasectomy?” teased Lauren. “You heard it here first,” she added. A short time later, Arie went to the procedure.
Arie’s realization came during a trip to Hawaii, where he and Lauren own a home.
“It was really challenging because there are no postmates in Hawaii. They don’t have grocery stores that stay open late. It’s basically like going back in time 30 years,” he told E! News.
“So it was difficult with the twins because there was less help. If I don’t want to cook dinner, I just order Postmates. There you need to go to a grocery store, which was a 20 minute drive for us. It was very difficult,” he continued, adding, “At that point we were like, ‘This is it. That’s it.’ I think we are so lucky because we have our boy, we have both girls. And I’m 40, folks. I can’t have children later in life. I want to be like an active father. So I think three is fine.”
