Hasan was confused when Joe Rogan’s YouTube video was hit with a manual copyright claim

Twitch star Hasan Piker was caught off guard during a recent Twitch stream after Joe Rogan reported that his video was subject to a copyright claim.

As one of the most popular social media personalities today, Hasan has made a name for himself with his online commentary and reaction-based content. One particular name he often finds himself responding to is none other than Joe Rogan.

With dozens of Twitch stream segments clipped and then uploaded to one of his YouTube channels, a large number tends to feature footage from the Joe Rogan Experience podcast. While this has been a common Hasan habit for months, a clip was recently discovered.

“I was manually claimed by Joe Rogan,” Hasan revealed in a January 6 Twitch stream. The claim targets a December 24 YouTube upload with the title: ‘Joe Rogan is worse than Fox News.’

Surprised by the news, he explained to viewers that Rogan “never made a manual statement to people. I immediately texted my YouTube collaborator,” Hasan said,” and he said, “yeah, that’s weird.”

Unlike the copyright strike, Hasan’s channel is generally unaffected. Instead, the copyright claim took over the monetization on the particular video, Hasan explained.

However, while it was a manual request, it appeared to come from ‘SuperBam, a rights management service that is supposed to represent Rogan content.

“SuperBam is really annoying,” said Hasan, having worked with the team before. “They took revenue from one of our anniversary videos, and Jubilee likes it when other YouTubers react to their content.”

Confused by the latest statement, the live streamer emphasized the response to all of Rogan’s videos as “always fair use. It is outspoken against misinformation being spread.

“I wouldn’t call Joe someone who can’t handle criticism without finding out who does the manual review.”

Hasan’s team is currently looking into this, we just have to wait and see what happens.

Either way, it’s a “strange” situation and a new one for Hasan’s YouTube channel. However, it doesn’t look like he’ll stop uploading his Rogan-related videos anytime soon following complaints.
