HBO’s The Last of Us had a secret voice actor appearance you probably missed

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson voiced Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us video games, and both voice actors also had hilarious cameo appearances on the HBO series. The former played James, one of David’s cannibal footmen, while the latter played Anna, Ellie’s mother.

But as revealed on the official HBO podcast, there was another secret voice actor gig that we’ve all missed.

Laura Bailey, who plays Abby in The Last of Us Part II, actually showed up in the season one finale as one of the nurses in the operating room. Her character was luckily spared by Joel as he continued his murderous killing spree, but another fun thing is that she played the nurse in the original game too.

In the screenshot below, she is the nurse on the left.

Afterwards, creator Neil Druckmann and showrunner Craig Mazin revealed that Bailey also played the reporter in the first episode, although we wouldn’t blame you if you missed those ones too. Bailey had flown out to Calgary in the last few days of production and was more than happy to play the nurse wearing a surgical mask so no one would recognize her.

With Season 2 on the way and Abby becoming a big part of this storyline, we’ll no doubt see Laura Bailey make another cameo again at some point in the show.
