Miami Heat No. 7 Kyle Lowry vs Boston Celtics
No team has chased the stars more this season than the Miami Heat. The Heat have been linked with any stars rumored to be switching teams. Kevin Durant, Donovan Mitchell, Kyrie Irving, Dejounte Murray. None of their offers were overly advanced, in part because the team didn’t want to trade Bam Adebayo as it is.
The Heat want to improve this season without having to trade their young All-Star big in Adebayo, so maybe they can look at other deals that don’t require them to send any All-Stars. or their rising star Tyler Herro. One recent commercial proposal featured the Heat sending Kyle Lowry to the Minnesota Timberwolves to serve as the All-Star Guard.
D’Angelo Russell to Miami Heat?
In one August 12 article for Bleacher ReportZach Buckley has suggested one trade the Timberwolves will be looking to ‘Improve’ its roster, and that is the acquisition of the Heat’s six-time All-Star point guard.

Minnesota Timberwolves: Kyle Lowry
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a conundrum with Russell, and Anthony Edwards, both of whom claim the property, and Minnesota fears Russell could slow Edwards’ advancement by continuing to split the fortune with the two players. Russell averaged 18.3 points per game last season in Minnesota and his career-high assists-per-game rate at 7.1. He will bring immediate playability to the Heat and at this stage of their careers, is likely to be an upgrade from Lowry next season. Lowry has been dealing with injuries and personal problems last year that have cost him some playing time.
D’Angelo Russell has the ability to create his own shot and create shots for others beyond what Lowry contributed last season. The All-Star Guardian will likely relieve some of the pressure Butler has always had to create.
Buckley cites his reasoning behind the proposed deal so Wolves don’t need the scoring level that Russell brings, and adding a veteran like Lowry would improve their team.
“Russell probably has more punches to score at this point, but the Wolves should have enough net cutters to hit the top 10 without him. Lowry, meanwhile, will be a major upgrade in terms of defense and a negligible improvement as an offensive organizer.” Buckley wrote.
Heat searched for point guards
Russell is not the first point guard or ball handler that the Heat have been involved with this season. They were noted to be interested in signing John Wall after his acquisition of the Houston Rockets. They spoke to the San Antonio Spurs about a potential deal with Dejounte Murray before he was sent to the Atlanta Hawks. Dennis Schroder’s name has been leaked. And most recently, Pat Riley has reportedly liked the free agent point guard from the Cleveland Cavaliers as a potential pickup of the season. The Guardian is currently a restricted free agent in Cleveland and has yet to sign after showing no interest in their contract offer so far.
