Heatwave devastates mango crop in India

AKBARPUR, India—A mango orchard in northern India’s Uttar Pradesh state has passed through three generations of Deepak Kumar’s family. His grandfather planted the seedlings 35 years ago and by June the trees are usually full of fruit.

This season’s record-breaking temperatures, which began in March, have devastated the orchard. Mr Kumar estimates his mango crop will fall by at least 70%.
