Here’s how to permanently enable the hidden difficulty in Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw Demo

The end of our suffering.

The Resident Evil 4 Remake demo was recently released on consoles and PC, and it didn’t take long for players to discover a hidden difficulty setting. Mad Chainsaw mode will make the game much more difficult, but it can only be accessed after a random prompt during demo launch. Luckily, fans found a way to enable this mode permanently and make the process less of a chore.

One of the first to share this method online was YouTuber 7rayD, who made a one-minute video teaching viewers how to keep Mad Chainsaw mode persistent. First you have to highlight the Main Story option and then you have to hold both R1 + L1 and RB + LB. After that you have to press these keys ↑←↓→▢△OXX on PS5 or ↑←↓→XYBAA on Xbox.

Although 7rayD doesn’t know how to do it on PC, YouTuber Zaeld has spotted a way to unlock the mode by keyboard. Unlike using a controller, you don’t have to hold down a button. All you have to do is press Up, Left, Down, Right, R, I, Left CTRL and double tap the spacebar.

If you get it right, the game should immediately pop up the prompt offering you to take on the higher difficulty challenge. Another great news about this method is that you don’t have to do the input again even if you exit the game or get killed during your playthrough.

However, if you want to go back to standard mode, you can simply decline the offer and everything should revert to normal. Do not worry. It’s not a one time thing. You can enter at any time if you want to try and take on the souped-up Chainsaw Man.

Resident Evil 4 Remake Chainsaw Demo is now available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
