Dodger’s 2022 Season Preview

The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to return to the World Series after being rejected by the Atlanta Braves in the National League Championship Series last year. Los Angeles just switched things up and the Dodgers have a super team, according to The Washington Post’s Chelsea James.

“That’s exactly how we don’t want to think about it,” Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner said, per James. “You can’t hit the wall for 162 balls because you know you’ve got to have some left over in the playoffs.”

“I think it’s about the urgency in the regular season and taking care of business enough that you have the opportunity to downshift in September and get ready for the playoffs,” Turner added, “instead of the whole thing Year neutral and then try to rush it, spend the last month to do it.”

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts knows his team is not invincible. According to Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times, he became concerned about pitching depth while speaking to reporters at the end of spring practice.

“I think that’s probably what’s on my mind,” Roberts said, per Harris.

That’s despite having a pitching staff that topped the National League in lowest ERA last season. However, pitcher health could quickly change the championship season.

“You’re always one pitch away from losing a man,” Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior said, per Harris. “And then if you lose, maybe one of your top three or four guys, or one of your guys that you expect to give you a pretty big chunk of the innings, that’s a big concern. But I will [be glass] now half full. We are in a good place.”

The Dodgers’ opponents may need to score in big crowds this season to have a chance. The Dodgers have a strong lineup, finishing first in runs scored and third in home runs last season.

It only got more potent with the addition of Freddie Freeman from the Braves. Freeman hits 31 homers and hit 83 runs last season.
