Prosecutors said the 46-year-old “touched her breasts, twisted her nipples, touched her genitals above and below her swimsuits and digitally penetrated them during underwater coaching sessions.”

The disgraced coach reportedly told the young women that all of this was necessary to “toughen them up for the competition,” according to prosecutors.

The victims were between 13 and 17 years old at the time of the incidents between 2012 and 2017.

The coach ran the International Water Polo Club in Los Alamitos, California, and also trained at Kennedy High School on La Palma.

The sexual assaults reportedly took place during training sessions in a pool located at the Joint Forces Training Base in Los Alamitos.

The victims’ parents who attended the training sessions were completely unaware when Hojreh molested their daughters just meters away.

“My heart breaks for each of these victims and for their parents who did whatever it took to help their children achieve their sporting dreams and instead had to learn the painful truth that their daughters were being abused right in front of them – and there was nothing they could do to protect her,” Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said.

Spitzer continued, “Thankfully, these brave girls had the courage to speak out about the abuse and prevented more girls from being molested.”

Following Wednesday’s guilty verdict, a distinguished water polo coach was immediately taken into custody

The outlet reports that the girls began confiding in each other about the abuse in 2017, but the parents were not notified until a year later.

When the families learned of the abuse, they immediately reported the abuse to the police.

Hojreh, who coached over 100 All Americans and led more than 10 teams to the national championships, is now banned for life from participating in USA Water Polo-related events, the authorities said Orange County Registry.

He stayed out on bail during the trial but was immediately remanded in custody after Wednesday’s guilty verdict.

Hojreh is due to be sentenced on January 12.
