Hogwarts Legacy broke records for Warner Bros., grossing a whopping $850 million in the first two weeks of the game’s release. Variety broke the news of an earnings call earlier today, adding a bit of information from David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros. Games.
According to Zaslav, the company has plans to maximize the success of the franchise as much as possible despite the Hogwarts Legacy controversy due to comments from author JK Rowling and allegedly anti-Semitic themes. In fact, Warner Bros. Games president David Haddad went as far as to say that the company was over the moon with player reactions to Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy itself is packed with things that players are clearly enjoying. There is a lot of endgame content and random things to collect like fashion items and even magical beasts to keep players going much longer than the main story of the game.
This wasn’t the first record Hogwarts Legacy has broken. The game broke Twitch viewership records and became the title with the most concurrent viewers on the platform. The surprising thing was that the game wasn’t even released at the time – it was only available to those who bought the Deluxe Edition.
The game was also not fully released. Hogwarts Legacy will be released on April 4th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One and July 25th for Nintendo Switch.
