Honda is recalling nearly 250,000 vehicles because bearings can fail and engines can run poorly or stall

DETROIT (AP) — Honda is recalling nearly 250,000 vehicles in the U.S. because bearings can fail, causing engines to stall and increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall affects certain 2018 and 2019 Honda Pilot SUVs and Odyssey minivans, as well as some 2017 and 2019 Ridgeline pickups. Also affected are certain 2015 to 2020 Acura TLX vehicles and some 2016 to 2016 Acura MDX SUVs 2020.
Honda reports Documents released on Friday from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that due to a manufacturing defect, connecting rod bearings in the engine can wear and seize, causing damage to the engines. The engines may not run properly or stall while driving, increasing the risk of fire, accident or injury.
The automaker’s filings say there are 1,450 warranty claims due to the problem, but no reports of injuries.
Dealers will inspect and repair or replace engines if necessary. Owners will be notified by email starting January 2nd.
