Hospitals can recover billions of dollars in drug payments after Supreme Court ruling
The Supreme Court said the US Department of Health and Human Services unlawfully cut lucrative drug subsidies for some hospitals, a victory for hospitals that have challenged the move.
Wednesday’s unanimous decision reverses two years of cuts made from 2018 as a centerpiece of the Trump administration’s public health agenda. The cuts have severely reduced federal subsidies under a program called 340B, created to help hospitals that care for larger numbers of uninsured patients.
