How do birthday banners work in Tears of Themis?

The Shadow of Themis is Tears of Themis’ gacha system that features different types of banners, from regular rotation to event-limited banners. Event-limited banners are further categorized based on the type of event they’re tied to, making the gacha system a bit confusing.

A very special event that takes place four times a year are the birthdays of the male protagonists. Here’s everything you need to know about them.

What is a birthday banner in Tears of Themis?

As the name suggests, a birthday banner starts a few days before a male lead’s birthday and ends a few days after. So you can expect birthday banners to appear on the following dates:

  • Artem Wings: 26th of April
  • Marius of Hagen: June 21st
  • Vin Richter: 27 Sep
  • Luke Pearce: December 5th

A birthday banner is a Solo Banner which only contains cards that correspond to the birthday child. This pool includes a new birthday SSR card on rate-upas well as the existing permanent SSRs of the male lead from the regular Shadow of Themis rotation.

For example, in Artem’s 2022 birthday banner, the following SSRs can be drawn:

  • “Two hearts as one” (birthday card 2022)
  • “Loving Memories” (Permanent SSR)
  • “Atmosphere” (Permanent SSR)

There is a higher chance of getting the Birthday SSR, with a 1% chance versus 0.3% for the permanent cards.

How does pity birthday banners work in Tears of Themis?

The birthday banner pity system is as unique as it is guarantees the limited birthday SSR for 90 draws. That means you won’t be spooked by any of the permanent SSRs at the 90 pity mark. Drawing a permanent SSR before hitting pity will also do not trigger the reset of the pity counter.

For example, if you draw a permanent SSR at 60 turns, you only need 30 more to get a guaranteed birthday SSR. Once you get the Birthday SSR, the pity counter will reset.

It is also important to know that birthday banner pity counter will not be shared with other limited and event banners. But it is transferred to other birthday banners, regardless of the male lead. For example, if you didn’t get Artem’s Birthday SSR in April but drew 75 times, that number will carry over to Marius’ Birthday Banner in June – so you only need 15 more draws to guarantee his Birthday SSR.
