Fourteen days Update 21.20 downtime has been confirmed for July 6th and players are now preparing for the next major patch release.
Epic Games have only given a few hints as to what might be next, and fans have had to rely on leakers to share a few tidbits of information ahead of time.
But while we don’t know exactly what to expect later this week, we do have a clear timeline to hold on to when to expect the Fortnite downtime to begin and how long the servers could be down.

How long have Fortnite servers been down for the next update?
Epic Games has confirmed Fortnite server downtime will begin on Wednesday, July 6th at 4am EDT (5am BST) and may last up to three hours depending on how long the maintenance lasts. With this in mind, all players should have access to game servers again by 7:00 am EDT (12:00 pm BST) across PlayStation, Xbox, PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch.
The team has also warned that Fortnite maintenance alerts will start 30 minutes before and players will be kicked during this time. This means that you should complete all your in-game business by 3:30 PM EDT. As always, Epic Games could change its schedule at any time, so fans should keep an eye on the official social media channels to make sure they have the latest information.
Epic Games will also share when Fortnite servers come back online via its Twitter page, and that will be a good resource for anyone hoping to get back in as soon as possible. The latest message from Epic Games reads: “Update v21.20 is charging! Downtime begins at 04:00 ET (09:00 UTC), with matchmaking being disabled 30 minutes beforehand.”
And it looks like this week’s Fortnite update will be a big one, with notable leakers suggesting new map changes will be coming into play. Shiina posted online earlier this week that updates will be made to either Sleepy or Condo Canyon, as well as Tumbledown Temple. A new weapon tweak is expected to be announced, and some special Indiana Jones cosmetics might even be revealed. More information on the events is expected to be revealed in the official patch notes, which will be released later on July 6th.
