When Bridgerton made its way onto Netflix in December 2020, it was an instant hit, bringing in over 82 million viewers in its first 28 days alone.
Until Squid Games Surprising success, the steamy historical drama was the most watched show on Netflix and it was no surprise that Netflix renewed the series for a second season.
After an achingly long 15 months, Bridgerton Season 2 is finally set to hit our screens, but how many episodes will there be in the new installment and what can fans expect?
Bridgerton season 2 release date and storyline preview
Season 2 of Bridgerton will be released on Friday March 25, 2022 – exactly 15 months since Season 1 launched in 2020.
While the first part of the show explored Daphne Bridgerton’s arrival on the debutante scene and her relationship with the Duke of Hastings, the second part looks at Anthony Bridgerton’s attempts to find a wife of his own.
After his affair with opera singer Siena Rosso ended with the couple parting ways, fans have a chance to explore the man’s role during what is known as the season.
How many episodes does Bridgerton season 2 have?
Bridgerton’s second season will consist of a total of eight episodes.
Seasoned fans of the series will note that this is the same number of episodes as we saw in Season 1.
Like most Netflix releases, all eight new episodes will be released at once, so fans can binge-watch to their hearts’ content instead of having to wait for new chapters weekly.
Ahead of the arrival of Season 2, the eight episode titles were revealed:
- Capital R rake
- To the races
- A bee in your hood
- An unthinkable fate
- The vote
- The viscount who loved me
More Bridgerton is on the way
After the show’s stellar success, Netflix quickly secured Bridgerton’s long-term future and renewed the series for seasons 3 and 4.
The announcement came back in April 2021 as Bridgerton’s creator Chris Van Dusen tweeted to confirm that two more seasons had been given the green light.
However, a month later it was announced that Jess Brownell would take over as showrunner for seasons 3 and 4, replacing Van Dusen.
If Bridgerton can maintain its popularity, it could see as many as eight seasons in total, reflecting the number of main books in Julia Quinn’s acclaimed novel series.
Season 2 of Bridgerton will be available to stream Netflix from March 25, 2022.
