How many rounds and holes will be played at The Masters 2022?

The Masters is underway for 2022 in Augusta, but how many rounds – and indeed holes – are to be played? What is the minimum amount of golf the winner must play to win?

Im Sung-jae is the leader of The Masters after round one – he shoots a -5 under par 67 to take the lead ahead of Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson.

2019 winner Danny Willett sits third with Johnson, Joaqium Niemann and Scottie Scheffler at -3.

Tiger Woods is in 10th place – with 10 others at -1 under par, with defending champion Hideki Matsuyama recording a straight 72 to sit 0 for the tournament in 19th place.

How many rounds in The Masters?

The four-day event The Masters 2022 runs from Thursday 7th to Sunday 10th April.

Weather permitting, each golfer plays a full round on each day that they remain in competition.

Therefore, the winner of the 2022 Masters will play at Augusta National for four rounds.

If he can do it in fewer strokes than the other guy, he wins. As simple as that.

However, a tie at the end of the scheduled four rounds at The Masters would start an additional round.

How many holes are played?

Because Augusta National has 18 holes on the Masters course, a quick math is all that is required to determine how many holes will be played.

18 holes times four rounds equals 72 holes.

Although 72 holes are planned for The Masters, it could be extended again if there is a tie between two or more golfers at the end of the 72.

In this case, additional holes will be played in a sudden death format to determine who will become the Masters Champion.
