It was a tight game at Nissan Stadium as the Tennessee Titans took on the Cincinnati Bengals for a spot in the NFL Conference Playoff games.

The teams were level 16-16 apiece in the closing stages – when the Bengals were presented with a chance to win it via a field goal with four seconds left on the clock.

Rookie Evan McPherson was bought on to kick the 52-yarder, which he converted to give the Bengals the win.

It’s the first time since 1988 they’ve made it to the Conference Championship game.

NFL kickers salary revealed

Specialist kickers in the NFL aren’t often the most well-known players in the team.

Their on-field appearances are limited to usually when the ball is within range to punt it towards the goal and hope for the best, but that’s not to say they aren’t expensive.

The best kickers command the highest NFL salaries – as you want them to actually convert a chance and not send it high and wide.

In the 2021/22 season, the salary of an NFL kicker ranges from $5 million per year to around $700,000.

Justin Tucker is the highest paid NFL kicker on the $5 million per year at the Baltimore Ravens – with $3.6 million coming in base salary.

The remainder comes in a signing bonus spread out over the four years of his current contract.

Other kickers earning over $4 million include Graham Gano (New York Giants), Brendon McManus (Denver Broncos) and Ryan Succop (Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

The lowest salary for an NFL kicker is Austin Seibert of the Cleveland Browns.

In 2022, he makes slightly less than $1 million in base salary for the season.

The average for his contract is $695,000 – which expires this year.
