Costing £2.50 a piece, organizers at Wimbledon can expect to move almost 200,000 units.
That’s about £500,000 – half a million – in just strawberries and cream.
It is the first time in almost three years that Wimbledon has been sold at the usual rate to which it is accustomed.
In 2020, the Championships were canceled entirely due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with capacity reduced during the 2021 tournament.
Wimbledon is one of sports catering’s biggest operations, with the two-week tournament leaving plenty of time to get those strawberries and cream out the door.

If you’re eating strawberries and cream at Wimbledon, the only way to wash it down is Pimms.
A quarter of a million glasses of the gin are sold with ice and champagne – why not – also popular with the suitors.
While the usual offerings are sold to the public, the chefs also provide meals for the players to ensure they are in the best of shape.
Foods like pasta, chicken and fish are the norm for the likes of Andy Murray and Serena Williams – although a basket of strawberries and cream could be a just reward if they win the tournament.
