How to count down to midnight with NBC 5 – NBC Chicago

Planning a countdown to midnight with friends and family in Chicago? NBC Chicago will celebrate the new year with a special, “A very Chicago New Year.”

Hosted by Cortney Hall and Matthew Rodrigues of “Chicago Today,” NBC 5’s New Year’s Eve show celebrates some of the best the city has to offer.

The New Year’s Eve show in Chicago will air beginning at 11:08 p.m. Friday, December 31, on NBC 5 and stream right here on NBCChi Chicago.com. The show will also stream through NBC Chicago’s free apps on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, and Apple TV.

Several celebrities will make guest appearances, including Chicago New Year’s Eve icons Janet Davies and Mark Giangreco. Chicago’s unofficial New Year’s Eve couple reunion resulted in the amusing antics the pair have been known for over the past 20 years.

It wouldn’t be the New Year without some fun and flashbacks featuring the celebrities Buddy Guy, Dan Aykroyd, Jim Belushi, Giuliana Rancic, Chris Chelios and the cast from “Chicago Fire”. Plus, performances by Chicago rock legends and The Blues Brothers.
