How to get Sun Stones in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Sun Stones cannot be purchased in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet and must be found in the open world. They are used to evolve a range of Pokémon and are vital to completing the Pokédex. One is given to players for free if they pass the Gym test in Artazon, but this cannot be repeated. These are the locations where players can find a Sun Stone in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.

Where to find sunstones in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

There are two locations in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet where Sunstones spawn, with one area having a guaranteed Sunstone as a Pokéball item. In which western province through area oneSunstones can spawn with one at the river always be on a cliff and a tree. You can access it by facing the river and turning around to go through a small tunnel where the Sunstone is waiting for you. This is the only guaranteed location, aside from simply passing the gym test in Artazon for the Grass Gym. Neither of these two drops will respawn, but the river may have some shiny objects on the bottom that have a chance of being Sunstones.

The other area players can find the sun stones Asado desert. The area is full of random items like soft sand, Pokémon materials, balls, and potions, but any of the shiny blobs on the ground can be a Sunstone. They have a low spawn rate, but the desert spawns a lot of items at once, so it shouldn’t take too long to eventually find one. The Sunstone can evolve both Petilil and Sunkern and are needed to fill out the Pokédex.
