EV training can be a long and difficult task in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet if you don’t know what you’re doing. We’ve prepared a guide for EV training, including items to use, Pokémon to fight, and more. Here’s how to train in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet EV.
What is EV Training in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?
EV in the Pokémon series refers to Effort Value. This determines a Pokemon’s base stats and the growth of that stat. There’s a maximum number of EVs a Pokemon can have, as well as a maximum number of EVs that can be put into a single stat. The maximum number of electric vehicles is 510but a single Stat can only have 252 EVs. This means that you should aim your Pokemon’s EVs for their best values.

How to increase EVs in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
There are two ways to increase your Pokémon’s EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. You can either use disposable items to increase the base stat, or you can fight specific Pokemon to increase EVs. We recommend the second method because you can give a Pokemon items that increase the rate at which EVs increase. These are power items and can be purchased at Delibird presents stores. If you want to use vitamins instead, these can be purchased from Chansey Supply stores.
How to train with Power Items in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet EV
This is the easiest method and will save you some money too. To perform this method, you need a high-level Pokemon and the appropriate one power item. Here are all the power items and the EV they will increase in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

- power bracer: attack
- power belt: defense
- power lens: Special Attack
- powerband: Special Defense
- power-to-weight ratio: PS
- power anklets: Speed
You need to equip the Pokemon you want to train with the EV with the right item. You can have multiple Pokémon in your party at once for EV Training; Just make sure you train on the same EV on all of them. Once you’ve set up your party, you’ll need to use your high-level Pokemon in battles and defeat specific Pokemon to bestow that EV on all Pokemon in your party. Auto battles don’t count, so you have to actually fight 28 battlesto maximize an EV.

Best Pokemon for Battle EV Training in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet
- attack: Yungoos, Shinx,

You can eat sandwiches to increase the likelihood of these Pokémon appearing; Just make sure to match the type of power the sandwich gives with the Pokemon you’re EV training against. For example, when fighting Yungoos, you need a sandwich that increases the appearance rate of Normal-type Pokémon.
All items that increase EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
There are several disposable items that increase EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. That is Not the best method to use as these EVs don’t lift very much and can be expensive to purchase or tedious to grind Tera Raids for. Here are all the EV-boosting items in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

How to check EVs in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To check your Pokemon’s EVs in Pokemon Scarlet and Purple, make sure the Pokemon is in your party. Then you should select and check this Pokemon summary. Go to the second tab where your statistics are displayed, and press L. You’ll see that the yellow lines lead to your stats with more EVs, and those that shine will be maxed out.
