How to unlock enchantment perks in God of War Ragnarok

God of War Ragnarok is a very complex and well developed game. It contains many customizable elements that can help Kratos in his conquest of beating Odin. The accessory system, armor, and weapons are immediately apparent and self-explanatory, but the enchantment perk system has confused some players as to how it works.

How to get enchantment perks in God of War Ragnarok

You can get enchantment in God of War Ragnarok after defeating the Nidhogg. During the Vanaheim storyline, Freya must interact with the roots of the world tree, Yggdrasil. During this process, a giant snake-like creature called Nidhogg will awaken, which you must defeat in a three-step combat sequence. After defeating it, you will receive an Amulet of Ygdrassil, which you can customize with enchantments to improve Kratos’ stats.

Enchantments work like passive items that individually improve Kratos’ stats in God of War Ragnarok. You can combine some of the enchantments with their counterparts from the same realm, giving Kratos additional perk set bonuses. For example, Svartalfheim’s set gives you a defense set bonus and a stun damage increase that scales with Kratos’ overall defense rating.

There are nine enchantment slots on the Amulet of Ygdrassil, and you can combine a maximum of three realm sets to get the maximum number of bonuses. This may not be all players’ preference, as some enchantments provide good stats but are not part of a realm set. One of these enchantments is the Greater Regenerating Essence, which grants you a significant health regeneration bonus and is one of the most useful essences.
